PHNOM BAKHENG (World Monuments Fund):

Concerning the proposed underground drainage canal located at the foot of the pyramid: It is recommended to improve the aesthetic impact by replacing the thin laterite blocks that are covering the drainage pipe with thin concrete blocks to be covered with grass. This will mitigate the urban aspect on this monument, which still requires major study and de-velopment work.

The eastern staircase should be kept it as it is, with only partial repairs. It should not be used for the visit, but is part of the overall presentation of the monument.

The WMF will have to design a project regarding the construction of a wooden staircase on the northern portion of the Phnom.

This project will be submitted to the experts, then to the APSARA National Authority for approval.
