24. WORKSHOP ON PREAH PITHU APPROACH AREA:

It is recommended:
a) As a matter of urgency, that the shops set up in front of Preah Pithu temple be relocated, opting for the least invasive solution for the natural environment and the local communities. To this end, the tree cover in the areas concerned must be appraised in detail to prevent the felling of large trees in order to accommodate the relocation.
b) That the issue of small shops and restaurants in the park be reviewed overarchingly:
i) By conducting an in-depth analysis of the set-ups, duly mapped out, taking an accurate census of the number of sellers, at the same time doing a study of unbuilt zones where putting in such shops would have less impact on the monuments and the visitor experience.
ii) Submitting a model project for shops and restaurants to the ICC for assessment in order to come up with an overall strategy governing this issue.
