20. SAMBOR PREI KUK SITE:
The ad hoc group of experts appreciates the work of conservation and restoration being carried out by the ANSPK and recommends:
a) since the excavation may cause structural instability of the remains, always monitor the structural stability of the remains;
b) water-resistant sacrificial layers be applied to tops of brick walls to prevent rainwater intrusion;
c) pointing with lime mortar to form water gradient be provided on damaged portions of the brick decor to prevent deterioration and destruction;
d) to proper pruning of trees be conducted to prevent damage from wind pressure;
e) the restoration process and archaeological findings be compiled regularly, stored in an appropriate documentation centre and published;
f) to highlight by finishing the distinction between original and new bricks during restoration work and showcase the historical evolution of the archaeological excavations and looting traces.
