  1. The stability of West Bakan requires a preliminary study to analyze the stability status of the monument that is being affected by earlier deformation of the retention walls caused by overall subsoil conditions and water penetration. Prior to making a decision on any consolidation work, it is crucial to ascertain if the foundations and wall deformations have become stabilized or not.The consolidation project should explore all possible alternatives so as to avoid invasive operations that could interfere with the monument’s authenticity.
  2. The western section of the Southern Gallery has been suffering from very old stability problems as manifested by the shifting of blocks and large cracks in the lintels. No rehabilitation operation can be proposed as a solution at this time. More information must first be collected by means of a monitoring system, further studies and analysis of the structure, which operations are to be carried between now and the next meeting of the ICC.
