With reference to the strategy announced by Madam Irina BOKOVA, Director-General of UNESCO, during the proceedings of the third committee meeting of the current General Assembly of the United Nations that dealt with achievement of the Millennium Goals for Development, under the theme of CULTURE FOR DEVELOPMENT, it is strongly recommended that data collected on sustainable development conditions at Angkor be made available in connection with this new UNESCO strategy.
For that purpose, socio-cultural data are to be collected, analyzed and assessed to show tangibly the contribution that safeguarding and development at Angkor have made to the sustainable development process in the Siem Reap-Angkor region and in Cambodia as a whole.
