9. Angkor Wat Illumination Project:

The ICC takes note of the conclusions of the report prepared by the expert, Mr. Eric GALL, commissioned by the Versailles Public Institution. This report was forwarded by H.E. the Ambassador of France, Mr. Yvon Roé d’Albert, to H.E. the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the APSARA National Authority, Mr. SOK An. On the basis of these conclusions and remarks of the experts present for the on-site test on December 8, 2006, the ICC recommends that efforts be continued to improve the quality of the proposed illumination program with expert assistance provided by the Versailles Public Institution on a partnership basis with the APSARA National Authority.

The goal is to achieve, with removable, non-permanent fixtures, an illumination of the highest caliber that would preserve the prestige and the sacred character of the monument and the authenticity of its archaeological components as the integrity of its appearance.

A special attention will be given to the rate of illumination in connection with the program of events.
