13. Angkor Wat (GACP)

1. The Group of ad hoc experts acknowledges the outstanding quality of the investigations undertaken by GACP team as well as the rigor of their methodology and the very high level of competence of the German experts who have helped to train a team of Cambodian experts;
2. Given the importance of Angkor Wat as a symbol of the whole site and due to the significance and quick pace of the alterations discovered by GACP, the necessary involvement of young Cambodian experts is recommended to ensure a constant monitoring and maintenance in order avoid further aggravation of the situation and the consequent risks that this would incur for the visitors.
