7. Angkor Thom Enclosure Wall:

Recalling that the Angkor Thom enclosure wall has collapsed in 18 different places. Two such places on the south side toward the west corner were examined by the ad hoc experts. Both the working space and access route are narrow, which makes restoration work time-consuming.

a) Recommends that the APSARA National Authority see to a regular budget for the maintenance and restoration of this long enclosure wall is recommended (as previously written in recommendation 10.2 adopted on January 24, 2017 at the 27th Technical Session of the ICC-Angkor).

b) The restoration should be done using traditional techniques and materials.

c) An efficient means of transporting laterite blocks from the vehicle-accessible point to the work site should be devised.

d) An efficient method for lifting the laterite blocks on the worksite should also be devised.
